Learner voice on the Josephine Butler Secondary Campus
M Boyes provides the strategic lead and direction for learner voice across the Academy. Within the
Josephine Butler Secondary campus student voice will aim to introduce a clear system of taking
learner views into account with prompt feed back on change to improve the experience for learners
attending the JBS campus. Learner voice will be built on the following foundations.
• Noodle will provide individual learners with a point through which to make suggestions and
report concerns about their own or others well being, Heads of Year and Sandra Brown will
monitor this and pass relevant details to the Director of Key Stage.
• Key Stage 5 council will operate alongside this process and will attend meetings with PDS as
described below.
• Regular time in tutorial will be devoted to learner voice activities to take place over at least
one week in each half term.
• Each tutor group will identify a learner voice representative and deputy.
• Reps will collate information from their group and report issues to the Director of Key Stage.
The Director of Key Stage will then meet with the Key Stage Council each half term. The
agenda for the meeting will be approved by the PDS and the meeting will be minuted.
Outcomes will be discussed at the next Sec Team meeting and feedback given to the reps
within two weeks of the Key Stage council meeting.
• In addition there will be half termly meetings for the JBS council. Made up of elected
members. (three from each key stage including KS5]. They will meet with the PDS to go
through a formal agenda, minutes being taken. Feedback to learners will be within two
weeks of the meeting date.
• Issues at anytime in this process that are relevant will be raised with the ExecD by the PDS
During formal 1:1 meetings.
