The School Governance Team responsible for supporting trustees and governors plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the overall governance structure functions effectively and in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements. This team acts as the central link between the school’s executive leadership, the governing body, and the board of trustees, helping to coordinate activity, maintain clear communication, and uphold high standards of governance across all levels.

In addition, the governance support team helps to build capacity within the governing body by overseeing recruitment, induction, and ongoing training for governors and trustees. They foster a culture of continuous development and shared purpose, ensuring that all members of the governance structure are equipped to fulfil their roles effectively. Through their work, this team ensures that governance remains robust, transparent, and focused on the core mission of delivering the best possible outcomes for pupils.

Key responsibilities:

  • organising and facilitating meetings
  • preparing agendas and minutes
  • managing documentation
  • ensuring that all governance activities comply with statutory duties and best practice
  • provide essential advice and guidance to trustees and governors on areas such as policy, safeguarding responsibilities, financial oversight, and school performance data
