Welcome to NCEA Castle School!
Castle School is a specialist provision based in Ashington, Northumberland, supporting children and young people from early years to post-16 with severe learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions (ASC), or profound and multiple learning difficulties.
At the heart of Castle School is a commitment to placing the aspirations and needs of learners at the centre of all that it does. The school offers a carefully designed curriculum that is both ambitious and diverse, ensuring learners are consistently challenged, actively engaged, and meaningfully enriched. A strong focus is placed on safeguarding and wellbeing, with a nurturing environment where every learner feels safe, respected, and valued.
Trust forms the foundation of Castle School’s ethos. Staff foster open and transparent relationships, encouraging learners to use their voices confidently and express their thoughts, needs, and aspirations. Learning is viewed as a continuous and dynamic journey, with pupils making excellent progress and experiencing the joy of achievement regularly.
Castle School is dedicated to empowering its learners, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to actively participate in their own lives. The goal is to enable each pupil to shape their own future and reach their full potential.
The school’s mission is for every learner to leave with a strong sense of identity, a broad understanding of the world, and the skills needed to navigate and contribute meaningfully to society. More than just a school building, Castle School provides the foundation for resilient, informed, and happy individuals to grow and thrive.
