Salary: Band 3 £25,583 – £25,989 pro rata (actual £19,389 – £19,696)

Duke’s Secondary School is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and motivated Learning Support Assistant to join our newly established Specialist Support Base (SSB).

Working alongside the SSB Teacher and HLTA, you will support students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) relating to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will help create a nurturing learning environment where students feel supported, encouraged and able to develop both academically and personally.

The successful candidate will be patient, adaptable and an excellent team player, with the ability to build positive relationships and encourage students to become confident, independent learners. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people every day.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support students in accessing learning activities and achieving their individual learning goals.
  • Deliver planned interventions and provide feedback on student progress.
  • Help create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment that supports students’ emotional wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to support learning, behaviour and pastoral needs.
  • Promote independence, confidence and positive relationships while supporting students both inside and outside the classroom.
