Salary: Band 5 £28,598 – £31,537 pro rata (actual £21,674 – £23,901)

Duke’s Secondary School is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and caring Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our newly established Specialist Support Base (SSB).
Working within our specialist provision, you will support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with the SSB Teacher and Head of SSB, leading targeted interventions, supporting curriculum delivery and helping to create a positive, nurturing environment where students feel safe, valued and motivated to succeed.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, experience of supporting young people with additional needs and the confidence to work collaboratively with families, colleagues and external agencies. You will be adaptable, proactive and committed to making a positive difference every day.

Main Roles and Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted interventions and small group learning programmes to support students’ academic, social and emotional development.
- Support teachers with planning, assessment and monitoring student progress.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, carers and external agencies to support individual needs.
- Help create a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes engagement and positive behaviour.
- Contribute to personalised support plans and monitor the impact of interventions.
